This marks Shari Freidenrich’s second time running for city treasurer.

In 1996, she was voted into office after competing with more than 20

candidates.

A supporter of local charities and service organizations, Freidenrich

is a graduate of the city’s Citizen’s Police Academy and a member of

Parade 2000.

Freidenrich studied business administration at Washington State

University and is a certified state municipal treasurer. She belongs to a

number of treasurer associations, including the California Society of

Public Accountants, Government Finance Assn. and the Municipal

Treasurer’s Assn. of U.S. & Canada.

As city treasurer, Freidenrich said the most important issue in

Huntington Beach is ensuring the safety, liquidity and earnings from the

city’s investments.

SHARI FREIDENRICH ON:

* REDEVELOPMENT

“This is not a responsibility of the city treasurer, other than to

ensure that funds are available for any expenditures,” Freidenrich said.

* THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING THE CITY

For Freidenrich, the biggest challenge over the next few years is to

ensure that as the city tackles infrastructure improvements, urban runoff

and public safety, the financial side of Huntington Beach is managed

efficiently.

“In addition, the use of technology will empower citizens to process

city payments more effectively,” Freidenrich added.
