IN-LINE HOCKEY: Thrashers hold off Lightning, 2-1

There wasn’t much separating the top from the bottom in the Norris

Division standings last weekend as the first-place Thrashers managed to

hold off the winless Lightning, 2-1, at the Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey

Center in Huntington Beach.

Destiny Mills broke a 1-1 first-period tie with what turned out to be

the winning score, an unassisted goal in the second period.

It was the second goal of the game for Mills.

Goalie Derris Douty had 27 saves for the Thrashers, who improved to

4-0 and remained the lone unbeaten team in the division.

John Dachroeden scored in the opening period for the Lightning

(0-3-1), who also received 28 saves from goalie Blake Easton.

In other games:

ROLLER REBELS 4, RED WINGS 2

With the scoring split between Tyler Bertrand, Drake Peach, Kyle

MacLeod and Shaun Black, the Roller Blades were able to improve to 3-1.

Bertrand, Weston Hall and Cody McWhirter each had assists, and goalie

Tyler Post had 25 saves for the victors.

Stephen Marchand and Cameron Weiss scored, Michael Marchand had an

assist, and goalie D.J. Mihalik stopped 23 shots for the Red Wings (1-3).

BLACKHAWKS 7, CROCODILES 3

Scoring goals for the ‘Hawks were seven different players: Brad

Giczewski, Daniel Reed, Reye Brackett, Rebecca Koppel, Kevin Lassen, Eric

Pace and Matthew Kibler. Notching assists were Lassen, Pace and Todd

Smith, and goalie Jake Marsey had 24 saves as the Blackhawks ran their

record to 3-1.

Austin Shannon scored had an assist, Justin Pederson and Conner Parks

each scored goals, and goalie Jeff Fuzzard had a busy day with 28 saves

to lead the Crocodiles (2-1-1).

FLYERS 5, KINGS 5

After trailing 4-0 heading into the final period of play, Jonathan

Floren scored unassisted to complete a miraculous comeback by the Flyers

(1-2-1) as they rallied to tie the Kings.

It was the second goal of the third period for Floren, who was joined

in the scoring column by Ross Harper with a pair of goals, and Matthew

Seroka with one. Flyers goalie William DeWitt had 26 saves.

For the 0-3-1 Kings, Daniel Guthorn scored twice and added an assist.

Kyle Merrick scored twice, Sam Slosman scored once, and goalie Kevin

Christi recorded 19 saves.
