Huntington Beach police arrested and booked a Westminster man on

suspicion of a felony hit-and-run against a police officer.

Officer Chris Nesmith was responding to a disturbance call at 8:20

p.m. Saturday, traveling north on Gothard Street, when he was hit at

Slater Avenue by Adrian Manzaneres, 18, police said.

Manzaneres was driving south on Gothard Street in a 1984 Honda Accord

and turned into Nesmith’s path as they crossed the intersection, said

Officer Mike Mello of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

California Highway Patrol officers investigated the collision and

found Manzaneres, who had fled the accident scene, authorities said.

Manzaneres was not injured and was booked at the Huntington Beach Police

Department Jail.

Nesmith was treated and released from the Huntington Beach Hospital

for minor injuries.

Police seek 2 home robbers

Fountain Valley police are looking for two men suspected of tying up

and robbing a Mount Acoma Circle woman Monday afternoon.

Police said the 55-year-old woman returned home at about 1 p.m. and

heard footsteps coming from the stairway. She was confronted by a man who

grabbed her and threw her on the floor, police said.

One man is described as wearing a white baseball cap, blue jeans and

white tennis shoes. The second man, whom police do not have a description

of, used the telephone line to tie the victim’s hands behind her back,

police said.

Both men fled the home, and the victim was not injured. Police are

still determining what was taken from the home.Anyone with information

Police arrest man in basketball court assault

A man suspected of slugging a basketball player during a pickup game

in Fountain Valley last month and causing him to fall and possibly suffer

permanent brain damage was arrested, police said.

Willis Ray Williams, 39, of Buena Park was taken into custody about

1:45 p.m. Oct. 26 in connection with the attack on James Hundley, 36, of

Garden Grove, said Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Jim Perry.

Hundley, who was playing at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, was

hit by a fist and fell, striking his head on the pavement, Perry said.

He suffered a skull fracture and underwent surgery a short time later.

He may have permanent brain damage and remains in critical condition,

Perry said.

Williams was known to frequent basketball courts and to participate in

pickup games, Perry said.
