The Fountain Valley Clinic Jaguars began their quest Saturday for a

Super Bowl title by routing the Mission Viejo Cowboys, 46-0, in Junior

All-American Football first-round playoff action.

Matt Empting led the Fountain Valley romp with 171 rushing yards and

three touchdowns, setting up a second-round meeting Saturday (3 p.m.)

against the Orange Chiefs at La Mirada High.

Stevan Santana and Chris Martinez also scored on touchdown runs, and

Fountain Valley ended a first half of domination by scoring on a reverse

from Chris Martinez to Empting, giving the Clinic Jaguars an

insurmountable 39-0 lead at the break.

The Clinic Jaguar defense also had a big game. Stephan Robb returned

an interception for a touchdown, and a Diego Boggio interception set up

quarterback Bryce Blake’s touchdown run for the game’s second score.

The Clinic Jaguar offense, featuring the line play of Andy Palacios,

Nicco Boggio and Chad Palsulich, rolled up 365 yards of total offense.

The defense, led by Robb, Santana, Empting, Matt James and Paul

Fernandez, frustrated Mission Viejo by holding the Cowboys to minus-25

yards of offense.
