Charles Clifford, father of Costa Mesa City Council candidate Michael

Clifford, passed away Nov. 10. He was 75.

Clifford moved from Lighthouse Coastal Community affordable senior

housing, where he lived with Dolores, his wife of 53 years, to a nursing

home several months ago because of heart problems.

He was admitted to a hospital with pneumonia the week before his

death.

“Even when he was so sick for a while, we were hoping for recovery,”

Michael Clifford said. “I’m just glad he didn’t have to suffer anymore.

He was in a lot of pain and suffering for the last few weeks and now he’s

not.”

Clifford, a Costa Mesa resident for 37 years, is survived by his wife;

three sons, Michael, Kenneth and Charles; three daughters, Carol, Joanne

and Vickie; two brothers, Harold and Vallie; two sisters, Norma Pryor and

Delores Ulrich; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. today at Lighthouse Coastal Community Church, 301 Magnolia St., Costa Mesa.

Clifford will be buried at Lawn Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave., Costa

Mesa.
