The Fountain Valley Jaguars’ bid for a berth in the upcoming Pee Wee

Division Super Bowl game came to a stunning end Saturday, as the South

Orange County Patriots rolled to a 40-13 playoff victory before a large

crowd at Fountain Valley High.

The Jaguars scored first on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Shane Webber

to Viken Bitar, but South Orange County scored on its first three

possessions to open up a 20-6 lead.

Fountain Valley was able to narrow the gap to 20-13 at the half,

thanks to a pass from Webber to Bitar, who split two Patriot defenders to

complete a 32-yard touchdown play.

That was as close as Fountain Valley would come to catching the

visitors, who outscored the Jaguars, 20-0, in the second half.

Fountain Valley Coach Mike Perez has been named the AFL head coach for

the Dec. 9 all-conference game, which will be held at Orange High’s Fred

Kelly Stadium.

Six Fountain Valley players -- defensive lineman Andrew Schneider;

defensive backs Eric Ceja, Travis McNaughton and Freddie Estrada;

offensive back Bryan Schutte; and offensive lineman Coby Mason -- have

been selected to play in the all-conference game.

Mission Viejo 20, Fountain Valley 0

Two teams sporting 9-0 records met in semifinal play, where the

Mission Viejo White Cowboys pulled away to victory and earned the right

to defend their Super Bowl title.

The Jaguars, led by Bryse Blake and Matt Empting, shut out the White

Cowboys in the first quarter. But Fountain Valley’s offense couldn’t get

into the end zone Saturday, as three drives into the red zone resulted in

fumbles.

“I have never been more proud of a team as I am of this one,” Fountain

Valley Coach Hector Martinez said. “These kids never gave up and fought

to the end against a veteran team.”

The Fountain Valley Jaguars gave the city its first Clinic Division

regular season championship. The Jaguars are: consisting of Blake,

Empting, Christopher Martinez, Dennis Trejo, Chad Palsulich, Scott Baker,

Steven Santana, Danny Dion, Ian McNichol, Joshua Schnitker, Alexander

Ackel, Andrew Palacios, Scott Rychlik, Loren Robb, Moses Hershberger,

Ryan McNichol, Ian Gipson, Benjamin Marshman, Nicco Boggio, Diego Boggio,

Trenton Burns-Stickney, Kristopher Wysong, Stephan Robb, Paul Fernandez

and Matt James.
