Four VU athletes honored by NAIA

COSTA MESA - Four student-athletes from Vanguard University, Erin

Bongiorno, Robin Callahan, Matt Swift and Beth Weidler, were named to the

NAIA’s Academic All-American team.

Bongiorno, a member of the VU women’s soccer team, is majoring in

anthropology. The junior has a 3.83 grade point average.

Callahan, a teammate of Bongiorno, is a senior majoring in exercise

sports science with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy. Her GPA is 3.72.

Swift, a junior on the men’s soccer team, is an exercise sports

science major and carries a 3.83 GPA.

Weidler is a junior on the women’s cross country and basketball teams.

She is majoring in liberal studies and has a 3.5 GPA.

Requirements for the NAIA Academic All-American team include having a

junior or senior academic standing with at least a 3.5 GPA.
