HB Diamondbacks post 3-0 win

The HB Diamondbacks, a girls’ under-12 team out of AYSO Region 143,

turned in a strong defensive performance Sunday to defeat Costa Mesa

(Region 120), 3-0.

Goalkeepers Cassandra Vota and Tricia Erznik combined at the net to

record the shutout, getting solid defensive support from Jessica Bynum,

Jade Redmond, Sarah Burnett, Lisa Nolddan and Saida Hudson. Controlling

the midfield were Kassi Hewin, Brooke Thompson, Mia Harriman, Kendall

Luther and Sarah Roberts.

Brittney Bebek scored two goals and Melissa Burnett added a

third-quarter goal to complete the HB Diamondbacks scoring.

Titans take second in Turkey Shoot

The Titans out of Region 5 finished second at last week’s Turkey Shoot

2000 soccer tournament held at Edison High in Huntington Beach.

The Titans advanced to the final by posting a 3-1 record, which

included wins over La Mirada (1-0 and 1-0) and Huntington Beach (3-1),

with the loss being a 2-1 setback to West Garden Grove.

In the final, the Titans were defeated by Downey, 4-1.

Members of the Titans include Patrick Cummings, Jonathan Telles, Aram

Bitar, Zareh Bitar, Andrew Esquerra, Brian Cordova, Tyler Thompson, Bobby

Gutrowski, Daisuke Nishikawa, Jordan Weber, Korey Kramer, George

Graberkewitz, Chris Esquerra, George Fernandez, and coaches Doug Thompson

and Don Nishikawa.
