OCU Rush advances in League Cup play

Orange Coast United Rush girls’ Under-12 soccer club won two

matches last weekend to advance to this weekend’s final rounds of the

2000 League Cup Tournament.

OCU Rush advanced by winning two close battles, 2-1 over the La Canada

Flyers and 1-0 over the Mission Viejo Elite.

Courtney Anderson figured in both wins, scoring OCU Rush’s second goal

against La Canada and off a penalty kick for the only score against

Mission Viejo Elite.

Samantha Castillo opened the scoring against La Canada with a goal off

an assist by Cindy Mendoza.

The OCU Rush defense was anchored by goalie Tori Rocke, Elyse VanLeer,

Amanda Shaw, Jennifer Powell, Amy Staudinger, Brianna Baker and Chelsea

Wisdom.
