The Salvation Army Advisory Board presented Newport Beach resident
Betsy Tarbell with a life membership on its Orange County Advisory Board
at the recent Spirit of Giving Awards event. Tarbell became a member of
the board in 1981 and was the first woman chairperson of the advisory
board. She is the founder and director of Women of Vision, a ministry of
World Vision. She teaches at the Shalimar Learning Center in Costa Mesa
and works with the Orange County Mental Health Assn. ... F.M. Ameri, a
senior vice president at RBF Consulting, which provides planning, design
and construction services, recently was appointed by Gov. Gray Davis to
the state’s Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board and has been
submitted to the state Senate for confirmation. Ameri was appointed to
the Orange County Board of Supervisors Development Processing Review
Committee in 1992, where he served as the chairman and is still a member.
He is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree, and holds a
master’s degree from Cal State Long Beach. The water quality control
board was created by the state Legislature in 1967 to ensure the highest
reasonable quality of water of the state. It is composed of nine regional
water quality control boards. The Santa Ana region, which includes
Newport-Mesa, continues to be one of the most rapidly growing areas of
the state, serving five million people ... The Roxburgh Agency, Inc. in
Costa Mesa has been named a finalist for 15 awards at the Feb. 24 MAME
celebration, sponsored by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Building
Industry Assn. The awards ceremony honors excellence in design,
merchandising and sales and marketing within the home-building industry.
Roxburgh will compete for top honors in 10 categories. The firm’s
marketing excellence has been recognized for work completed on behalf of
Alisal, a neighborhood by Monarch/Taylor Woodrow, and for two
master-planned communities -- Coto de Caza by Lennar Communities and San
Elijo Hills by San Elijo Development Company ... DMK, a Tustin-based,
multi-disciplined building professional, recently completed $270,000 in
tenant improvements on Quiksilver Youth, a new specialty toddler-to-teen
clothing store at Fashion Island. The 1,400-square-foot project began in
May, and Quiksilver opened a few months before the holiday season ... The
Animal Network of Orange County reported 82 adopted animals during the
month of December. The group holds adoptions every Saturday and Sunday in
front of Russo’s Pet Experience in Newport Beach.
