Girls water polo: Newport in semis

SANTA BARBARA - The Newport Harbor High girls water polo team won

two games Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Santa Barbara

Tournament of Champions at UC Santa Barbara.

Jenna Booth scored four goals to key a 5-3 quarterfinal win over

Irvine, after Katherine Belden scored five goals in a 7-6 win over

Cabrillo, which went 18 minutes into sudden-death overtime.

Heather Deyden made 14 saves against Cabrillo for the Sailors (13-2),

ranked No. 3 in Orange County.

The Tars meet Capistrano Valley today at 2:35 p.m. for the right to go

to the title game.
