OCC women defeat GWC

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Kristen Urban (Newport Harbor High) scored 17

points to lead the Orange Coast College women’s basketball team to a

60-41 Orange Empire Conference win over host Golden West Friday night.

Janette Redmond and Karyn Fierst each chipped in with nine points,

while Nadia Mojica grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for OCC (12-9, 2-2 in

conference).

Christine Arganda led the Rustlers (3-16, 0-4) with 13 points, while Randi Perry scored 10 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

The key to OCC’s success came from the free-throw line, where the

Pirates outscored the Rustlers, 24-11.
