Huntington Beach East downs Hotshots, 29-25
East Huntington Beach fended off a late charge from the Fountain
Valley Hotshots on Sunday and scored a 29-25 victory in a National Junior
Basketball girls’ Division I game at Ocean View High School.
Miranda Baker and Crystal Perez each scored 10 points to pace the
Hotshots, with Baker also finishing with five rebounds, four steals and
two assists, and Perez getting six steals and a pair of rebounds.
Fountain Valley, which fell to 4-2, also received seven rebounds
apiece from Amanda Anaya and Kimberly Rhoten.

Fountain Valley Extreme 31, East Huntington Beach 21
Brittany Hagen scored a game- and career-high 21 points and added four
rebounds and two assists, Whitney Nelson grabbed eight rebounds and
scored four points, and Shannon Sueda and Cassie Johnson ran the offense
as the Fountain Valley Extreme evened its record at 3-3.
South Huntington Beach Electricity 49, North Huntington Beach
Sparks 22
The South Huntington Beach Electricity raced to a 29-2 halftime lead
and were never threatened at Edison High School.
Lauren Kaprielian scored 12 points, Nicole Kaprielian and Becca
Noffsinger each scored eight points, and Eileen Flanagan added seven
points, including a three-point basket at the halftime buzzer, as all
eight on the Electricity’s roster scored.
South Huntington Beach is now 5-0 on the season.
SEVENTH-GRADE ALL-NET
East Huntington Beach 45, North Huntington Beach No. 1 34
The East Huntington Beach Cheetahs defeated their second opponent from
North Huntington Beach at Marina High School.
Kelly Parson scored 11 points, had four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Stacey Yin had nine points, along with 10 rebounds to pace the victory.
East Huntington Beach 51, North Huntington Beach No. 2 33
Kay-Dee Lane poured in a game-high 19 points, and Kelly Parson and
Allyson Weimer also scored in double figures with 15 and 13 points,
respectively, to lead the Cheetahs to victory at Chapman University in
Orange.
