Boys soccer: Mesa blanks Northwood
COSTA MESA - Trinidad Hernandez had two goals and two assists to
lead the Costa Mesa High boys soccer team to a 4-0 Pacific Coast League
win over visiting Northwood Wednesday afternoon.
Ryan Denman and Michael Gardiner each scored to give Mesa (7-4-1, 1-1
in league) a 2-0 advantage before Hernandez found the back of the net
twice in a five-minute span.
Goalie Bryce Sheridan had five saves for the Mustangs, while
midfielder Irwin Salas helped spark the offense with solid play,
according to Mustangs’ Coach Eugene Day.
“Irwin was very hard-working out there,” Day said. “He did a great job
of getting the balls from the middle of the field to our forwards.”
Costa Mesa will host Laguna Beach Friday at 3:15 p.m.
