Jazz rallies past Sun Devils, 62-54

Jeremy Johnson scored 32 points Sunday, and the Jazz came from behind

to remain perfect on the season, beating the Sun Devils, 62-54, in a

Fountain Valley National Junior Basketball Division I contest played at

Fountain Valley High School.

Derek Kramer also scored in double figures with 14 points as the Jazz

improved to 6-0 overall.

In other games:

Lakers 33, Jabberwalkies 27

Viet Nguyen scored 14 points, and Jeffrey Sett added eight as the

Lakers pulled away in the final period in a game tied through three

quarters of play. Matt Derocili scored 14 points, had 14 rebounds, four

blocked shots and a pair of steals, Jeff Millard had 10 rebounds, and Chris Debowski had seven points to lead the Jabberwalkies.

DIVISION I

76ers 55, Bruins 33

Danny Morris poured in 29 points Sunday as the 76ers continued to

cruise in division play, where they are now 7-0.

Ketan Chopra also scored in double figures with 15 points while Aaron

Kennaday, Kevin DeHerrera and Jonathan Said each contributed six points

for the Bruins, who fell to 3-4.

DIVISION III

Bombers 37, Lakers 36

Ray Strazzulla scored 13 points, had eight rebounds, four steals and

three assists. Ryan Sharpe scored nine points and had six rebounds, and

Tsubasa Furukawa matched seven points with seven rebounds for the Lakers,

who trailed by 12 points after the opening quarter but rallied before

falling to the first-place Bombers.

SEVENTH-GRADE ALL-NET

Fullerton 58, Fountain Valley No. 1 52

Samer Haddad scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Brandon

Duquette scored 12 points with seven rebounds at Troy High School in

Fullerton, but Fountain Valley No. 1 dropped another close game as the

first round of league play ended Sunday.

DIVISION III

Oilers 38, Westminster 22

The Oilers jumped out to a 24-6 halftime lead and coasted behind

Tanner Phillips’ 15 points, six steals and five rebounds. Keith DeLawder

added nine points and 10 rebounds, and Trevor Springman had eight points,

10 rebounds and two blocked shots as the Oilers improved to 7-0.
