Girls water polo: Eagles forfeits game to CdM

COSTA MESA - Estancia High Girls Athletic Director Nancy Ferda

elected to forfeit Wednesday’s scheduled girls water polo game at Corona

del Mar after a handful of Eagle players threatened to boycott the

contest.

Ferda said Coach Michelle Spanley came to her Wednesday morning

reporting about five players had informed her they were not going to play

against the Sea Kings.

“It didn’t look like we were going to have enough players, so I made

the decision to forfeit,” said Ferda, who estimated there are 11 players

on the varsity roster.

Ferda said the team plans to complete its schedule and that she

expects only one player to face disciplinary action.

Estancia is scheduled to host Savanna today at 3:15.

CdM improves to 10-9, 3-0 in league.
