AYSO Region 97: Tsunamis win Area 11-Q championship

The Tsunamis, a boys-under-10 boys soccer team from AYSO Region 97,

captured first place in the AYSO Area 11-Q League playoffs last weekend.

The Tsunamis rolled through the playoffs undefeated, posting victories

over Costa Mesa, Irvine and two Tustin teams before taking on a fellow

Newport Beach team for the title.

In a game pushed to a five-man shootout, the Tsunamis came through

with the win and will advance to the state tournament this spring.

The midfield of Mac Mace, Jeff Fichtner, Willy Reese and Daniel Norris

supported the front line throughout the tournament, generating numerous

scoring opportunities for strikers Ryan Albert, Taylor Davis and Sean

Davis.

Solid Tsunamis’ defense was provided by Max Collins, Randall Hause,

Bryce Fuller and Darren Leggett.
