Eagles brush away Artists

COSTA MESA - The Estancia High girls basketball team outscored

visiting Laguna Beach, 32-4, in the first half en route to a 50-22

Pacific Coast League win Tuesday night.

Tisha Gray led the Eagles (14-8, 6-1 in league) with 12 points, while Tory Matsufuji added 10.

The Eagles, thanks to Costa Mesa’s 46-41 win over University, are

alone atop the PCL standings.

Meanwhile, Corona del Mar’s Jackie McCoy scored 20 points to lead the

Sea Kings to a 46-37 PCL win over host Northwood.

Jackie’s sister, Kristin McCoy, suited up against the Timberwolves,

but did not play with a slightly sprained right ankle. She is probable

for Thursday night’s clash with Estancia, according to Coach Elbert

Davis.

Andrea Gruber chipped in 12 points, including three three-pointers.

Elsewhere, the Newport Harbor High girls basketball team lost to host

Laguna Hills, 43-15, in Sea View League action Tuesday night.

Brianna Brooks and Jillianne Whitfield led the Sailors (2-20, 0-6 in

league) with five points each.
