Huntington Beach police said a Surf City woman was still clinging to

life Wednesday after suffering severe injuries in a car accident last

week.

Diana Le, 48, suffered massive head and body trauma when she was

struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound along Pacific Coast Highway at

6:50 p.m. Jan. 25.

Witnesses told police Le was walking across the Seapoint Avenue

intersection crosswalk with a small dog despite the red light and “Don’t

Walk” flashing sign.

The woman and her pet had made it to the far left eastbound lane when

they were struck by a 1984 BMW driven by David Carro, who was traveling

between 40 and 50 miles an hour, said Lt. Bill Peterson of the Huntington

Beach Police Department.

Carro had a green light and was traveling accordingly when the

accident occurred, Peterson added.

The impact sent Le onto the car’s windshield and she then fell to the

ground. An air ambulance helicopter carried Le to the UC Irvine Medical

Center where her condition remains critical, police said, adding her dog

suffered minor injuries and was cared for by animal control officers

until it could be retrieved.

Peterson said there is no evidence of alcohol involved in the

accident, and an examination of the traffic signal by Caltrans officials

found it to be functioning correctly.

‘Naked’ burglar sought in two incidents

Surf City police were still searching Wednesday for a man suspected of

burglarizing two area homes Monday in the nude.

At 5:25 a.m., police officers arrived at a residence in the 9700 block

of Charing Cross Drive after it was reported that a naked man had

allegedly forced his way into a 26-year-old woman’s residence.

Police said once the suspect was inside, the victim woke up and made a

quick escape on foot, alerting a nearby neighbor of the incident.

About an hour later and four blocks away, a naked man was caught

attempting to commit a burglary on the second floor of an apartment

building in the 9800 block of Garrett Circle.

The resident, a 49-year-old man, fought with the burglar from the

second floor of the building down to the first floor where the suspect

was able to find a window and escape, police said.

A total of 20 police officers arrived on the scene, as well as a

California Highway Patrol helicopter. A search produced no results, and

the suspect remains at-large.

Police added the suspect may have suffered injuries to his legs, arms

and back and believe he is the same suspect responsible for both

incidents. He is described as being between the age of 18 and 25, 5 feet

8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with short black hair and possibly a

mustache.

2 men held in robbery, attempted murder

Two Riverside County men are in custody, with bail set at $250,000, on

suspicion of robbery and attempted murder in Huntington Beach last week.

Vincent Felix, 42, and Justin Enlow, 33, were taken into custody in

San Jacinto on Jan. 25 in connection with an early-morning robbery and

shooting in the 21000 block of Leisure Lane on Jan. 23.

At that time, police discovered two adult victims, one man and one

woman, whose names are being withheld by officials, at a residence while

responding to a robbery reported at 2:24 a.m. The male victim suffered

from gunshot wounds to the head, and the woman had undisclosed head

injuries, police officials said, adding that they received treatment at a

local hospital.

Evidence at the scene linked the men to the crime, police added.

The two men were booked at the city’s jail before being transferred to

Orange County Jail.

Police seek suspect in assault, robbery

Huntington Beach police were still searching Wednesday for a man

suspected of assaulting and robbing a retired teacher over the weekend.

At 9:12 p.m. Sunday, resident Mary Carson, 68, returned to her home in

the 7900 block of Seawall Circle after walking her dog and to find a man

in her home, said Sgt. John Cottriel of the Huntington Beach Police

Department. The suspect assaulted Carson and fled the scene with an

unknown amount of jewelry and stereo equipment, he added.

The suspect was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about

180 pounds, with a goatee, mustache and brown hair worn in a crew cut. He

was wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt and what appeared to be light blue

denim pants.

An investigation is ongoing, he added.
