Quicksilver, Solid Goal and the Silver Stars, all boys’ Under-10

Division all-star soccer teams in AYSO Region 117, opened last weekend’s

Area 11-K tournament playoffs with a bang.

Quicksilver improved its all-star postseason tournament record to 10-1

by defeating Region 143, 4-1, and Region 56, 1-0.

Trevor Carberry, Tanner Phillips, Sam Mikulak and Alec Pinto each

scored once against Region 143, with passing by Jimmy Miller, Colin

Carroll and Kris Sauber setting up the scoring attack.

In a defensive struggle against Region 5, Pinto scored the match’s

lone goal. The play of Kevin Lewis, Matt McCoy and Cody Reeves, along

with several key saves by goalie Kyle Jenkins, helped preserve the

shutout.

Solid Goal also improved its postseason record to 10-1 with a 3-1

victory over Region 143, and a 7-1 rout of Region 517, in Gold bracket

play.

Michael Chairez scored twice, Kevin Kuwahara scored once and goalie

Kyle Day turned away several shot attempts to lead Coach Juan Rodriguez’s

squad on offense.

Against Region 517, Kuwahara, Chairez and Drew Russel each scored two

goals, Brandon Messer scored once and Juan-Carlos Rodriguez, with support

from midfielder Joel Antista, had a pair of assists.

The defensive charges were led by Alex Stone, Ryan Little, Jonathan

Crouch and Lucas Vandeman, while Day and Trevor Warren shared

goal-tending duties.

The Silver Stars opened tournament play Saturday with a 4-0 win over
