The Costa Mesa Senior Center gift shop will reopen today but will no

longer accept consignments.

The shop, which opened in 1992 and closed in December when the shop

manager retired, previously got 25% of the money made from consignments,

but will now sell only donated merchandise and be run entirely by

volunteers.

“Everything we have right now was donated, so we’re going to get all

of the money,” said Edwina Worsham, a member of the committee that will

run the shop. “The main thing we have right now is an oil painting by

Frank Tauriello on sale for $350. It’s a painting of Sacagawea, the

Indian girl who helped lead the Lewis and Clark expedition and who is on

the [new] dollar. We always have glassware, bric-a-brac, baskers and some

new clothing.”

Donations will be accepted continuously and all profits will benefit

the center.

The senior center is at 695 West 18th St., Costa Mesa.
