Auditions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. today for Orange Coast

College’s performing dance ensemble DANC’N ETC in OCC’s Dance Studio B,

2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.

The company performs the latest contemporary styles, including

hip-hop, jazz, ballet and modern, and is geared for intermediate to

advanced-level performers. Participants will each earn three units of

Musical storytelling with symphony

The Pacific Symphony Orchestra will hold “Story Time with the

Symphony,” a concert illustrating how music can tell stories without

using words, at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 10 at the Orange County Performing

Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.

The concert, part of the Mervyn’s Musical Mornings, will be led by

assistant conductor Mark Mandarano. The program will include “The Little

Mermaid” orchestra suite by Alan Menken, Aaron Copland’s hoedown from

“Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes” and Harold Arlen’s “Over the Rainbow” from

the “Wizard of Oz.”

St. Clair unveils ‘Magic of Mozart’

Music director Carl St. Clair will lead the Pacific Symphony Orchestra

in the Classical Connections concert “The Magic of Mozart” at 3:30 p.m.

Feb. 10 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center

Drive, Costa Mesa.

The concert will offer audiences a chance to interact with the

director as he unveils the life and work of Amadeus Mozart in the

70-minute concert, which is part of the orchestra’s adult education

programs. Featured pieces include the overture to “The Marriage of

Figaro” and Symphony No. 39 in E-Flat Major.
