-- Compiled by the Daily Pilot staff

We usually don’t tell you guys about all the freebies everyone keeps

sending to us at the paper. That’s just because we don’t really want to

get y’all worked up about the perks of life in journalism. (OK, so we

don’t get any cool stuff, but it sounds good, right?)

Anyway, the point of all this is that recently, a little something

arrived here from Hoag Hospital that got everyone so excited we thought

we’d let you know.

The hospital just redid its Web site, including such cool things as

search engines for doctors and prescription medicines. Officials have

also promised that we’ll soon get to take virtual tours of the hospital.

But along with the usual press releases, the people at Hoag obviously

had some concern about our intake of chocolate. They sent over a cute

little computer, complete with a picture of Hoag’s new Web site attached

to the screen. The picture was made out of paper. But the rest came in

delicious milk chocolate. And we’re talking the solid kind here. None of

that hollow stuff.

Needless to say, the thing didn’t survive for more than a few seconds.

All the brain work your Piloteers keep doing must send our sugar levels

to the ground. If you’d stopped by right there and then, we might have

even let you have a piece of the action. The way things are, all we can

tell you is to check out the site at o7 www.hoaghospital.orgf7 .
