Surf City police released a composite sketch of a man suspected of

attacking and robbing a Huntington Beach woman in her home last week.

Resident and retired teacher Mary Carson, 68, was returning home from

walking her dog along the 7900 block of Seawall Circle at 9:12 p.m. Jan.

28, when she noticed the house lights on and some property usually kept

in an upstairs dresser sitting in her living room, police said.

Carson went upstairs and screamed when a man emerged from one of the

bedrooms and grabbed her. The man restrained Carson with an arm around

her neck, and forced her into a downstairs restroom while he went through

her belongings.

An unknown amount of jewelry and stereo equipment was reported stolen.

Sgt. Janet Perez of the Huntington Beach Police Department said Carson

was frightened, but unhurt. She met with investigators Feb. 1. A

composite sketch has been released of the suspect, who is described as a

white male in his mid-20s, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing

180 pounds. He is also described as having a muscular build, a brown crew

cut, thin goatee and mustache.

Police urge anyone having information regarding the suspect’s identity

Rollover accident sends one to hospital

Huntington Beach police and fire officials rescued a family from an

overturned Ford Explorer on Saturday after a two-car collision took place

at 4:39 p.m. at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue.

The accident occurred while a local family of three, in a 1998 Ford

Explorer driven by Michael Montreuil, was waiting to turn left onto Beach

Boulevard from Atlanta Avenue, police said.

As the east-west light changed from yellow to red, Montreuil, 32,

collided with a 1999 Volkswagen Passat driven by 18-year-old resident

Courtney McClellan. McClellan was heading west on Atlanta, according to

Sgt. Janet Perez of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

McClellan was not hurt in the accident, but the Explorer overturned,

trapping Montreuil, his wife Laura and their 1 1/2-year-old child inside,

she added.

Police and fire officials freed the family, to find that Laura

Montreuil, 31, suffered a laceration to her head and legs, and was taken

to UCI Medical Center for treatment.

No other serious injuries were reported.
