Women’s hoops: OCC shoots down Golden West, 61-48

COSTA MESA - Karyn Fierst scored 14 points and grabbed eight

rebounds to lead the Orange Coast College women’s basketball team to a

61-48 victory over visiting Golden West, Wednesday, in Orange Empire

Conference play.

Fierst also dished out a team-high six assists. Pirate freshman Kyra

Melville scored a game-high tying 16 points and Nadia Mojica finished

with 11. The Bucs (15-13, 5-6 in conference) led by as many as 20 and

completed a season-sweep over the Rustlers (7-19, 3-8).
