Boys basketball: PCL hoops scenarios

Should the boys basketball teams from Corona del Mar High, Estancia

and Northwood all win tonight, a five-way tie for first place in the

Pacific Coast League would require two playoff games Friday at 7 p.m.

League athletic directors flipped coins Wednesday to determine which

of the five would automatically gain a playoff berth and which would play

each other.

The two winners of Friday’s playoff games would join the team that won

the flip Wednesday with guaranteed playoff berths. If those three teams’

record against one another does not break their tie, coin flips will

determine which teams go as the league’s No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3

representative.

If any of the three are the league’s sole representative in their

respective enrollment-based division, they will go as a No. 1.
