Solid Gold solid, again

Two weeks into the Area 11K All-star playoff tournament, and Solid

Gold is making a name for itself.

The AYSO boys’ Under-10 Gold All-star unit out of Region 117 improved

its tournament record to 6-0 by edging Region 56, 5-4, and Region 143,

3-1.

Solid Gold got past Region 56 in a driving rain storm Saturday, with

Drew Russell and Kevin Kuwahara each scoring two goals.

Michael Chairez added a goal to complete the scoring.

Against Region 143, Russell again led the offense with two scores and

Chairez had one.

Kuwahara, Juan-Carlos Rodriguez and Brandon Messer also turned in

strong performances. Lucas Vandeman, Joel Antista and Trevor Warren took

control of the midfield with solid passing. Alec Stone, Ryan Little and

Jonathan Crouch keyed the defense.

Goalie Kyle Day turned in several saves in both games for Solid Gold.

Tournament play resumes Saturday at Peterson Elementary School.
