What is individual dressing in 2001? The Look defines it as artistic

design that combines elements of tailored style with an eclectic,

free-spirited vision. In other words, clothing that expresses the inner

voice of the person wearing it.

That’s what Mi Place in Corona del Mar strives for with its selection

of one-of-a-kind clothing for one-of-a-kind people.

The Look asked Newport Beach activist Mary Kay Vandermolin -- the wife

of Dr. Lewis Vandermolin, a Newport Beach oncologist and hematologist

practicing at Hoag Center -- to model spring fashions from Mi Place.

Mary Kay Vandermolin is the mother of two children and previously

worked as a critical care nurse. She sits on the board of the

Philharmonic Society of Orange County, and is a hard working fund-raiser

for groups including the Library Foundation, the American Cancer Society,

the Orange County Museum of Art and Corona del Mar High School.

CUTLINES

1. Mary Kay Vandermolin wears a cashmere off-the-shoulder sweater by

Celine ($825). The sweater looks smashing with leather pants by Narciso

Rodriquez ($1600). The belt, also by Celine, is called the Bullet Belt

($275). The snakeskin shoes are by Rodriquez as well ($650).

2. Designer Michael Kors created this ice blue outfit consisting of a

jacket and capri slacks in silk Shantung ($1790). The outfit is completed

with a cashmere sweater laden with crystals ($1495) and hand-beaded

sandals by Alberto Ferretti ($423).

3. A very smart woven suede jacket by Trilogy ($869) is worn with a

Dolce and Gabbana gold tank top ($120) and pleated suede pants by Tark

($190). Vandermolin holds a D&G; bag ($300). Her sexy high heels are by

Rodriquez ($380).

4. The perfect chiffon dress ($1232) for spring comes from Randolf

Duke. What better color for Orange County than orange? Rodriquez again

supplies the heels ($380).

5. Vandermolin models a hand-beaded blouse with coordinating slacks by

Alberto Ferretti ($2411). Ferretti also designs the matching heels

($458).

6. This very chic off-the-shoulder dress by Celine ($925) is worn with

a double-wrap belt, also by Celine ($175). Vandermolin’s shoes are by

Rodriquez ($500).
