Crushers net tourney title

The Crushers out of AYSO Region 143 won the Area 11-K Tournament

playoffs last weekend, earning the right to advance to this weekend’s

Section Tournament at UC Irvine.

They dropped their first playoff game of the tournament in a 3-1

setback to Region 56, but bounced back to end their tournament run with a

4-0 blanking of Region 517.

Caitlin Bohne, Julia Redmond, Amy Nunez and Andrea Gonzalez all scored

in the 4-0 win. Nunez also played in goal in the fourth period, where she

came up with two big saves to preserve the shutout.

Bohne scored the lone goal in a driving wind and rain in the 3-1 loss

to Region 56.

The Crushers went 8-1-1 against Area 11-K competition with six

shutouts. They outscored their opponents, 31-7.
