Club soccer: Slammers fall in State Cup quarterfinals

The Slammers boys under-13 silver club soccer team reached the

quarterfinals of the CYSA State Cup with a 2-1 win over the South Coast

Storm, but fell, 4-2, to the Oceanside Breakers in the quarterfinals.

In the Round of 16 contest, Briant Mejia and Logan Duarte scored for

the Slammers, while Diego Valdivia, Tomas Jacobo, Kevin Geehr and Nick

Ossipoff controlled the defense.

In the matchup against Oceanside, Mejia scored two goals as the

Slammers led 2-1. But the Breakers answered with three straight goals to

win.

Also contributing to a successful season was Efrain Galvan, Marc

Touchette, Kyle Parton, Tristan Bower, Matt Bregozzo, Callan Campbell,

Andy Kosch and Nathan Javadi.
