Baseball: OCC drops conference opener
FULLERTON - The Orange Coast College baseball team blew a two-run
lead as host Fullerton used a three-run eighth inning to win, 4-3, in the
Orange Empire Conference opener for both teams Thursday.
OCC pitcher Scott Beerer, a Newport Harbor High product, pitched seven
innings and struck out five. He allowed 10 hits, but the Hornets (7-5,
1-0 in conference) picked up just one run.
Second baseman Jake Garcia went 2 for 3 with one RBI for the Pirates
(10-3, 0-1). OCC third baseman Ryan Marcos finished 2 for 4, while Beerer
and catcher Brian Murphy each had an RBI.
