HAEFLIGER GUESTS WITH PACIFIC SYMPHONY

The Pacific Symphony Orchestra concert this week may be “Mostly

Mozart,” but the star of the show will almost certainly be guest pianist

Andreas Haefliger.

Haefliger is known for his passionate playing of classical works. The

son of two musical parents, tenor Ernst Haefliger and architect Anna

Golin, he has recorded seven CDs and played with such noted groups as the

New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Haefliger has said that he favors the work of Germanic composers such

as Brahms, Schubert and, of course, Mozart.

The program for the Wednesday and Thursday concerts includes

Tchaikovsky’s Suite No. 4 in G Major for Orchestra and Mozart’s Piano

Concerto No. 24 in C Minor, among others.

Violinist Jean-Jacques Kantorow will perform with the pianist on

several pieces. Dave Kopplin will lead free concert previews for ticket

holders an hour prior to each performance.
