Community College softball: Pirates fall to Rustlers
HUNTINGTON BEACH - Orange Coast College shortstop Renee Snyder
lined a home run down the left-field line to lead off the second inning,
but Golden West rallied to claim a 3-1 Orange Empire Conference softball
decision Monday at the Rustlers’ field.
Snyder’s blast was among OCC’s three hits as Nina Fryslie went the
distance for the Rustlers to improve to 7-4.
OCC’s bunt defense broke down in the second inning, allowing the
Rustlers to score all their runs. After a single, two OCC misplays on
bunts allowed the hosts to load the bases. After two force outs were
recorded at the plate on bunts, an errant throw trying to double the
runner at first allowed three runs to score.
Kim Guillen threw five innings of two-hit relief to keep the Pirates
in the game.
OCC is scheduled to visit Saddleback today at 3 p.m.
