CMALL: Tigers beat Red Sox in opener

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa American Little League Majors Division

Tigers defeated the Red Sox, 8-1, to kick off the 2001 season.

Nick Peterson pitched five strong innings for the Tigers, allowing

only one run on three hits. Scott Shafer closed out the game with a

scoreless sixth inning of relief.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by Cody Waldron, who had three hits,

scored two runs and had one RBI.

Tigers’ teammates Andrew Millan and Cody Spoulos each had two hits, a

run scored and one RBI, while Peterson helped his own cause with a hit

and two RBIs.
