WHAT HAPPENED: The City Council gave final approval Monday to an

ordinance that would allow the staff of the city planning division to

handle minor additions in existing developments with master plans.

The council gave preliminary approval to the ordinance Feb. 20.

WHAT IT MEANS: “Minor additions” are defined as construction that

does not materially affect the open space, site coverage or parking of

the planned development.

VOTE: 5-0 to approve

WHAT HAPPENED: The council voted to have a youth art display in the

City Hall lobby.

WHAT IT MEANS: Recreation staff will work with city schools to set

up the displays.

The work will be displayed for four weeks at a time.

The display wall will cost an estimated $2,000.

VOTE: 5-0 to approve

WHAT HAPPENED: The council increased the amount of public

notification that is required before public hearings.

WHAT IT MEANS: The city will now notify all homes within at least

500 feet of a proposed project to inform residents of public hearings

scheduled to discuss the project.

Larger projects will require more notification, and notices will also

be posted on the proposed project site.

The city previously notified homes within 300 feet of proposed

projects.

The council gave preliminary approval to the revision Feb. 20.
