Men’s golf: OCC shoots past IVC

- Paced by a steady showing, the Orange Coast College men’s golf

team edged Irvine Valley, 395-406, in an Orange Empire Conference match

at Oak Creek Golf Club on a par-71 course Wednesday.

Pirates Brian Winston and Lou Carrasco, the latter a product of Costa

Mesa High, each shot a 71 to lead the field. OCC’s Clay Wright posted a

78 and Jake Allanach (Newport Harbor) ended with a 79. Mike Akahoshi

contributed an 84 for the Bucs (8-1, 1-1 in conference).

Coast returns to action in a four-team match, which also includes

Cuyamaca, Riverside and Santa Ana, at Mesa Verde Country Club on Monday
