Grommets get defensive in 4-1 win

The Grommets went on the defensive last weekend and collected another

Adams Division victory, defeating the Raptors, 4-1.

Goalie Blake Miller recorded 18 saves, and the Grommets’ defense

didn’t relinquish a goal until the final period, when Wyatt Theobald

scored off an assist from Josh Duchon.

Joseph Delp and Jacob Sabraw each had a goal and assist to lead the

Grommets on offense. Corinne Clegg and Tristan Schneider each scored

once, and Ryan Yamamoto had an assist to complete the attack.

Raptors goalie Cody Brothers had 15 saves.

In other games:

Fire 6, Ice Pups 4

The Fire outscored the Ice Pups 3-1 in the final period to post the

win. Michael Feirstein scored the first and final goals for Fire,

sandwiching four consecutive goals by Tyler O’Donnell. Austin Locke and

Dylan Locke picked up assists and goalie Taylor Song had 16 saves.

Andrew Mendoza scored twice, Kyle Christi and Zachary Jennings each

scored once, Gregory Hancock had an assist and goalie Andrew Livezey had

15 saves for the Ice Pups.

Little Tigers 1, Sharks 0

In a defensive struggle that featured 18 saves by the Little Tigers’

Shayne Nelson and 14 by the Sharks’ Travis Beckman, Keith Fronk’s

unassisted goal in the final period lifted the Little Tigers to victory.

Rocket Power 2, Bulldogs 1

Defense also keyed this matchup, but Rocket Power prevailed thanks to

single goals by Jacob Shaver and Alexa Bowden. Alissa Mowery had an

assist and goalie Sean Wing recorded 17 saves.

For the Bulldogs, Evan Kurth scored and goalie Marcus Kurth had 15

saves.
