Boys golf: CdM drives past Mission Viejo

NEWPORT BEACH - Corona del Mar High’s Tim Fhohling and Joe Kwon

finished as co-medalists on the back nine to lead the Sea Kings boys golf

team to a 412-438 nonleague victory over Mission Viejo at Newport Beach

Country Club Thursday.

CdM’s Jason Wishengrad totaled the best combined score after he shot a

40 at Mission Viejo Country Club and then a 42 on Thursday.

Kwon finished with an 83 and Frohling had an 84.

“Our guys were so close you could throw a blanket over all of them,”

CdM Coach Mike Starkweather said.

The first half of the match, played at Mission Viejo, was highlighted

by CdM freshman Brad Chamberlin’s 38.
