Boys golf: Warren resigns
NEWPORT BEACH - Jim Warren, who guided the Newport Harbor High boys
golf team to the CIF South Coast Regional championship last spring,
resigned Friday, Newport Harbor officials confirmed.
Warren, who did not return a phone message, will be replaced on an
interim basis by assistant Marianne Towersey.
Towersey, an assistant with the Newport girls program the last four
years, is in her second season coaching the boys program.
The three-time defending Tea Cup Classic champion said she was unsure
whether she would want to continue as head coach beyond this season.
In addition to the regional title, the equivalent of a CIF Southern
Section crown, the Sailors won the Sea View League championship last
season.
The Sailors travel to the Monterey Peninsula for nonleague matches
Sunday and Monday.
