Boys swimming: CdM takes care of El Toro

CORONA DEL MAR - The Corona del Mar High boys swim team heads into

Pacific Coast League competition with the right frame of mind following

Wednesday’s 98-70 nonleague win over visiting El Toro.

Sherwin Kim was a double winner for the Sea Kings (1-1). He won the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:49.79 and took first in the 100 freestyle

with a 48.89.

CdM swept the 200 free with Kim, Jimmy Strack (1:58.33) and Michael

March (1:58.90).

Kim teamed up with Marcello Pantuliano, Chriss Street and Garrett

Bowlus to win the 200 medley relay (1:46.99), then joined Street, Strack

and Bobby Messenger in the victorious 400 free relay (3:29.60).

Pantuliano was a winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.83), as was Street in the 100 butterfly (56.70).

Matt Meyer (5:13.29) led a 1-2-3 finish for CdM in the 500 free,

coming in ahead of Strack (5:15.68) and Brendan Powers (5:28.14).

CdM will compete at Laguna Beach on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to open up PCL

action.
