CMNLL: Marlins blank Yankees
The Costa Mesa National Little League Majors Division Marlins used
strong pitching from P.J. Errington and Vinnie Valdez to defeat the
American League Yankees, 3-0.
Errington and Valdez combined to toss a five-hit shutout. If Yankee
hitters managed to reach base, Marlin infielders Brice Stillman and Alex
Robles stopped the rallies with strong defensive plays.
The Marlins were led offensively by Valdez, Kevin Matson and Adam
Seagondollar.
In other Majors Division action:
Cardinals 11, White Sox 0 - Garrick Williams went 4 for 4 to spark the
Cardinals’ offensive outburst.
Daniel Freeman chipped in two hits, wile Tim Morley and Chris Falbo
each added RBI hits.
Starnes Arnold pitched three scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He
also drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple. Eddie Tomasek threw
two scoreless innings of relief and struck out three.
In Minor B action:
Marlins 12, Dodgers 7 - Brian Guzman, Johnny Valdez and James Wanbaugh
each pitched well to lead the Marlins.
Josh Ryding, Pedro Rivera and Joseph Eggers each had RBI singles,
while Joshua Erno contributed with a bases-loaded double, scoring three
runs.
In T-ball Minor action:
In the Astros’ contest against the Diamondbacks, Derek Berry connected
on every at bat, while Jason Rodriquez, Kohl Ponsford, Jake Aldrich and
Conner Pearce each had strong offensive showings.
The Astros’ defense was led by Greer Cisneros, Alex DeSoto and Jack
Shafer.
