NHBA Bronco: Indians take care of Dodgers

NEWPORT BEACH - Garrett Gordon went 2 for 3 including a grand slam

to lead the Indians over the Dodgers, 14-3, in Newport Harbor Baseball

Association Bronco Division action (ages 11-12).

Gordon was also strong on the mound, striking out five Dodgers over

two innings of no-hit relief, while Andrew Kaban went 3 for 4 with two

runs scored and one RBI.

Indians’ hurler Nathan Todd pitched three shutout innings with four

strikeouts, while the defense was led by Kaban and T.J. Fish.

The Indians closed out their scoring with two runs on singles from

Fish, Gordon, Jonathan Sutterfield and Jackson Massingill.

In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:

Red Sox 7, Mariners 5 - Alex Rios led the Red Sox offense with two

hits, including a three-run home run.

Bobby Okvist went 2 for 3, while Ryan Albert added a long double off

the outfield fence.

The Red Sox were led by strong pitching from Albert, Okvist, Rios and

Eric Holland, while Max Royer, Sean Mangano, Jesse Hickey, Jeff Hami and

Chris Zarvos each played solid, all-around games.

The Mariners were led by strong pitching from Joshua Jaye and Adrian

Rodriguez.

In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:

Red Sox 4, Devil Rays 4 - The Red Sox and Devil Rays succumbed to

darkness and had to settle for a 4-4 tie.

The Red Sox were led by strong play from Alex Rios, Max Royer, Ryan

Albert, Bobby Okvist, Eric Holland and Jesse Hickey, while the Devil Rays

were sparked by Michael Helfrich, Brian Rhodes and Chris Gowdy.

Dodgers 15, Mets 10 - Chris Griffin, Braden Cluck, Garratt McRoberts

and Jeff Allee each had RBI hits for the Dodgers, while pitcher Jeff Frum

threw three strong innings.

Dodger teammates David Panas and Victor Done each scored two runs,

while Daniel Norris turned a double play to end the game.

In Pinto Division (ages 7-8) action:

For the Red Sox, in their matchup with the Blue Jays, Bradley Courier,

Nicholas Hanson, Ryan Cerrato and Cole Blower sparked the offense, while

Kelly Blake and Deric Hensley anchored the defense. Pitchers John Dawn

and Evan Gray each performed well, while Garret Fisher and Steven

Michaelson led the strong play in the outfield.

In Saturday’s game between the White Sox and Mariners, strong play was

exhibited by Jason Wooding, Jordan Desquin, Ross Schwartz, Adam Kinder,

Robbie Rettig, Avery Jolliffe and Kristian Wooding.

In Shetland Division (ages 5-6) action:

Ryan Ridley, Jonah Garcia, Brady Morgan and David Blindell each made

two strong defensive plays, while Chase Kapana hit a deep fly ball in the

Diamond Backs’ game Saturday.
