The Trilogy Playhouse will hold auditions for the musical “Ruthless”

from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 27. “Ruthless” is the comedic story of a

young girl who would literally kill for a part. Theatrical talent and

unchained ambition reign in this melodrama with book and lyrics by Joel

Paley and music by Marvin Laird.

There are a variety of roles open. Auditions will be held at the

theater, 2930 Bristol St., Building C-106, Costa Mesa. Information: (714)

Cabaret season to include ‘Forbidden Broadway’

The Orange County Performing Arts Center has announced that its

2001-02 Cabaret Season will include performances by Jason Graae, Davis

Gaines, Rita Moreno, James Naughton and Douglas Sills. There will also be

a non-subscription bonus of the satirical revue, “Forbidden Broadway.”

The Center’s Cabaret Season is presented in an intimate, club-style

ambience with candlelight and full beverage service. Subscriptions run

from $190 to $210. Tickets for “Forbidden Broadway” are $39 or $43.

Capturing Crystal Cove in watercolor

“Once Upon a Time, Crystal Cove,” an exhibit of watercolors by Corona

del Mar artist Beatrice Anderson, will be on display from April 3 to May

2 in the foyer of the Newport Beach Central Library. Painted “en plein

air” over the past few years, the paintings depict the historic cottages

at the cove.

A reception for the artist will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 8 in

the library’s conference room. The Newport Beach Central Library is at

Juried art show to benefit the environment

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. will host its second annual

Painting Members Juried Spring Show and Sale, with more than 100

paintings, through April 1 at Gallery 133, 2405 Laguna Canyon Road,

Laguna Beach. The group has given a percentage of sales for past events

to preserve Back Bay and other landscapes. Future preservation causes
