Boys Tennis: Tars win six, but lose match

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor boys tennis team dropped its

final nonleague match, 12-6, to visiting Fountain Valley Thursday.

Sailor freshman Tyler Deck scored two victories in singles matches,

while senior Colin Duncan and sophomore Jonathan Twena finished with one

win each.

Harbor (1-3) opens Sea View League play at Irvine, Tuesday, at 3 p.m.

Singles - Duncan (NH) lost to Rich Nguyen, 1-6; lost to Ron Nguyen,

1-6; def. Pat Nguyen, 6-2. Deck (NH) lost 1-6, won 7-6 (7-5), won 6-0.

Twena (NH) lost 1-6, 0-6, won 6-1.

Doubles - Lutfy-Schaffer (NH) lost to Woo-Chew, 4-6; def. Schiao-Weng,

6-1; lost to Watanabe-Kieu, 1-6. Hirst-Banta (NH) lost 6-7 (4-7), won

6-3, lost 3-6. Brian Nguyen-Lund (NH) lost 2-6, 0-6, 2-6.
