Men’s and Women’s Swimming: Rustlers’ talent too much

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College men’s and women’s swimming teams

were dealt Orange Empire Conference losses by unbeaten Golden West as the

Pirates suffered their first setbacks of the season Wednesday.

The OCC men’s team took a 141-81 loss, but Tyler Townsend’s backstroke

leg led to a one-second victory in the 400-yard medley relay.

Townsend also won the the 200 backstroke (1:57.95) and the 50

freestyle (21.26). Jack Yarbrough touched first in the 200 freestyle

(1:52.78).

The Pirates’ women’s team lost, 196-65, as Shannon Flahive picked up

OCC’s only two victories. She won the 50 (31.43) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.18).
