Softball: OCC falls again
MISSION VIEJO - The Orange Coast College softball team dropped its
ninth straight Orange Empire Conference contest with a 9-1 setback at
Saddleback Friday afternoon.
OCC (5-11-1, 0-9 in conference) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of
the first inning when Meredith Miles led off with an infield single,
moved to third on a bunt single by Jill Jessen and scored on a double
steal.
That was the last run and hits the Bucs would see all day as
Saddleback pitcher Angie White retired 11 straight batters and finished
the game with three strikeouts.
The win was No. 160 at Saddleback for Coach Nick Trani, who coached
the Pirates from 1988-94 and compiled a record of 120-70-1 during that
span, including two conference titles and five playoff appearances.
