Softball: Mesa falls twice at Rialto Invitational
RIALTO - The Costa Mesa High softball team dropped two games at the
Rialto Tournament on Saturday in pool play action.
The Mustangs (5-3-1) lost to Pacific, 7-1, before falling to the host
Knights, 5-4, in eight innings.
In the opener, Ann Marie Topps scored the Mustangs’ lone run in the
sixth inning on the front end of a first-and-third double steal.
In the nightcap, the Mustangs trailed 4-1 and had nobody on with two
outs before rallying for three runs.
Back-to-back walks, followed by hits from Ola Wallace, Jade Moss (3
for 4) and Topps (2 for 4) brought the Mustangs even before the Knights
won the game in the eighth.
Costa Mesa will play at Newport Harbor on Tuesday before hosting
Capistrano Valley Christian on Wednesday. Both games are at 3:15 p.m.
