Girls swim: Sea Kings prevail over Northwood, 98-74
CORONA DEL MAR - Christine Hewko, Heather Hapeman, Jackie McCoy and
Brittney Bowlus of Corona del Mar High clocked a CIF Southern
Section-qualifying time of 1:45.95 to win the 200-yard free relay
Wednesday as host CdM defeated Northwood, 98-74, in a Pacific Coast
League girls swim dual meet.
CdM’s medley relay of Kim McKay, McCoy, Lauren Powers and Vivian Liao
dropped three seconds off their pervious best and qualified for CIF in
1:56.66, but finished second to Northwood’s fast 1:55.70 relay.
Powers (56.11 in the 100 freestyle) and Hewko (25.93 in the 50 free)
posted CIF consideration times.
CdM improved to 2-1-1, 2-0 in PCL. It will host Estancia next
Wednesday.
