Red Wings outlast Roller Rebels, 7-5

The Red Wings and Roller Rebels put on quite a show Monday on the

opening day of the 2001 Spring Season at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey

Center in Huntington Beach, and it took two goals in a shootout period by

the Red Wings to post a 7-5 Smythe Division victory.

Tyler Bales scored the third of his three goals to start the shootout

session, and Michael Eastman concluded the scoring for the Red Wings.

Eastman finished with two goals, William DeWitt and Kyle Evans each

scored once and goalie Paige Teagle had 26 saves.

The Roller Rebels received two goals by Tyler Bertrand, single goals

by Steven Farrell, Shayne Nelson (one assist) and Bronson Steiner, two

assists by Kevin Caskey and 32 saves by goalie Jake Marsey.

In other games:

Rangers 5, Stampede 1

Rangers goalie Jason Moore came up with 33 saves, Chaz Cameli scored

twice, Bryan VanArsdale posted a goal and two assists and Chris Snapper

scored once to power the Rangers.

Brett Shaver scored unassisted and goalie Tyler Post had 40 saves to

lead the Stampede.

Jets 5, Jr. Ice Dogs 3

Brad Janelli netted four goals, Michael Inouye scored once, Jacob

Schnautz had two assists and goalie Isaiah Jimenez stopped 21 shot

attempts for the Jets.

Ethan Bolling, Sean Easton and Tyler Olsen all scored and goalie Blake

Easton came up with a division-best 49 saves for the Jr. Ice Dogs.

Spitfires 5, Knights 3

Hunter Golden scored three goals, Kyle Turpin had a goal and an

assist, Kian Rhodes scored once and goalie Brad Brandenburg had 25 saves

to lead the Spitfires.

John Webb, Dylan Heyden and Joey Mahoney all scored for the Knights.

Vipers 5, Stars 5 (tie)

The Vipers and Stars tied following a scoreless shootout. Luc

Laffer-Miller scored twice, Wade Turner and Darrell McDonald each scored

once with an assist, Nathan Bergeron scored once and goalie Jeff Fuzzard

had two assists for the Vipers.

Collin Beck scored once and had two assists, Nelson Kays scored once

with an assist, Ross Harper, Conner Parks and David Marabella each scored

once and goalie Mike Burkhardt had 20 saves for the Stars.
