Fountain Valley police are searching for a man suspected of robbing an

Ellis Street business Saturday.

At 10:51 a.m., police responded to the store in the 9900 block. Police

said at that time, the suspect entered the business and attempted to make

a purchase. While the transaction was taking place, the suspect handed

the 17-year-old female clerk a note demanding money, police said. The

suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register

and left the business. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, 5 feet nine

inches tall, about 180 pounds with long strawberry blond hair in a

ponytail. He was wearing a dark knit cap, tan jacket and blue jeans. He

was seen leaving the area in a black Toyota or Honda two-door sedan with

“Gosch” paper plates.

Anyone with information concerning this incident should call the

Fountain Valley Police Department at (714) 593-4485.

Suspects sought in Burlington holdup

Surf City police were still searching Tuesday for two men who made off

with Burlington Coat Factory earnings after holding three of the store’s

employees at gunpoint.

Sgt. Richard Butcher of the Huntington Beach Police Department said

the unnamed employees, two men ages 37 and 33, and one 22-year-old woman,

were walking from Burlington’s 7777 Edinger Ave. location to a nearby

Bank of America to deposit an undisclosed amount of money.

The employees were then apparently confronted by two men clad in

black, one of whom brandished a black handgun and demanded the money.

Police said the Burlington employees handed over the black leather

sack. They saw the heist men drive north through the Huntington Center

parking lot and immediately notified the authorities. The assailants were

last seen driving a black, early 1990s compact car.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Burlington officials were unavailable for comment on the amount of

money lost, or the effect the holdup has had on its employees.

Lt. Luis Ochoa of the Huntington Beach Police Department said the

motorist, 35-year-old resident Patrick Gayner, was northbound on Beach

Boulevard driving a 2000 Chevy Tahoe when he collided with the bicyclist.
